hi, my name is dr. troy giles. i'm a doctorof chiropractic and a natural internist and i wanted to talk to you today about somethingthat's been a little bit close to my heart over the last couple of days, in that, infact, right now my brother in law is about three hours away from finishing up a quadruplebypass. actually it will be a five bypass and a new aortic arch aorta, the aortic valvein his heart. no symptoms, he had no idea that this was an issue. he was going to goon a scout campout, went to go get his physical. the doctor said let's do a stress test. thatwas wednesday. today's friday. yesterday they called him and said you need to come back.we've got some issues in your stress test. let's do a, what's the one where they go upin through the artery...what? angiogram, thank
you. they did an angiogram yesterday and cameout and said you know what? he's got severe heart disease and we need to keep him overnight.we'll do open heart surgery in the morning. my sister was just amazed. so he's about, they finished the upper replacements. they've replaced the valve and now they're going togo towards the next couple of hours, go down towards the lower, the lower arteries forthe heart. but that's an amazing thing, in that my other brother in law is going to begoing into his surgery on monday, same thing, quadruple bypass. this is a big deal. it'sa big deal to me because it's happening right now to my family, but it happens to my patientsall the time, not all the time, but it's there. it's present. i believe for women it's thesecond, either the first or second leading
reason for death. in men it's first, i think.so it's a big deal. so i wanted to talk to you a little bit about prevention and treatment, what to do if you have heart disease, where to go. first off, see your cardiologist, ofcourse. have your cardiologist be on board there, to see your gp if you have any issuesof chest pain. you know, if you have it's called intermittent claudication, when itoccasionally will come and go with exercise, with stress and pressure. what's happeningthe heart is a pump. so think about a pump pumping fluid. as it contracts, you've gota lot of blood flow through the heart. but the issue is the valve of the veins and arteries,to the coronary arteries, to the heart muscle itself are what get filled with plaque. somy one brother in law, they came out and said
he's 80 percent clogged and, you know, hecould die any minute, so we'll keep him overnight and get this done. so we want to be able toget your cardiologist on board and you want to start to, of course, check to make sureyou're okay with him or her, that you're going to be okay with doing exercise. we want toget your cardiovascular up. cardiovascular means you want to get your heart rate up.various reasons for this, because you want the vessels to expand and contract, so theydon't become like a stretched rubber band. stretched rubber bands, if you keep them stretchedout for a while, they'll get all hard and they're not elastic anymore. so that's whyyou want to get that blood pressure up, get it to expand and contract.secondly, you want to think about the acidity
level. how acid are inside? how much meatdo you eat? how much butter, how much carbohydrates do you eat? do you eat carbohydrates all thetime? because not only do proteins, but carbohydrates as well will create an acidic level. acidis when you throw up in the middle of the night and it burns your throat. that's acid.alkaline is on the other side and that's when you take, if you had acid in your stomach, you take alka seltzer that buffers or neutralizes the acid. stress, emotional stress, too muchprotein in your diet, too much carbohydrate in your diet, will create this issue, willcreate acidity levels. acid then, in your system, as it's flowing through, if your bloodbecomes more acidic, it creates burning, if you will, in your arteries. it becomes toxicinside. so now your body is going to try and
put calcium and other plaqueing down to tryand support the area that's been irritated by the increased acidity level. they almost, they suggest that it's almost more important to diminish your acidity level than it isto eat correct. there almost seeing more people, young guys, thin, who are having heart attacks, not obese, overweight, but young guys, who are acidic, who are stressed all the time.so monitor your stress levels as well. drop your stress. get a coach, have somebody coachyou on dropping your amount of stress that you have. cut out your fats, your saturatedfats. eat good fats, okay? you want to make sure you're eating your olive oil, flaxseedoil, nuts and seeds. those are going to be good oils, fish oil, omega 3 and omega 6 fattyacids. those also help to break down the oil.
as far as treatment goes, i suggest to mypatients to take heart flow. heart flow is a supplement by innovita that supports theheart tissue. it supports the dna to help you repair the tissue of the muscle of theheart. i suggest digestive enzymes on an empty stomach, so that you're taking, it dependson how intense it is, but you take digestive enzymes, empty stomach versus full stomach,so that you're not digesting what you're eating with it, but you're absorbing those enzymesinto the system, into the blood so that those amylase, protease, and lipase can digest moreeffectively the proteins that are stuck in the blood. your amylase to digest the carbsand your lipase to digest the fats and cholesterols. so if you're eating raw foods, who have theirown enzymes in them, you're going to have
less chance for this plaqueing in the heart.by taking a digestive enzyme empty stomach is very important to digest that out of theplaque and out of the heart. heart flow, digestive enzymes, make sure you're drinking a lot ofwater, basically the six essentials of life, which i've talked about in previous, in previousvideos. what you eat, drink, exercise, rest, breathe and think. that's the six essentialsof life according to m.t. morter. that helps tremendously. it's a scary issue. it's there.we all have to think about it. get your twenty minutes a day of exercise. get your heartrate up. jump on your bike or run in place, jog, whatever it is to do to get your heartrate up every day. i work in intensely from 5 o'clock in the morning usually until 10o'clock at night doing different things. i
have a big garden. i see all the patientshere, but i don't get my cardio in. so after my second sister said "hey guess what yoursecond brother in law is getting his, you know, his heart opened tomorrow", i said toher "you know what? i think i'm going to start to run. i need to run, not just from the heartattack, but i need to run to get my heart up, to get those vessels moving, to get theheart and the vascular system. i hope that's been beneficial. the biggest thing i thinkthough is decrease your stress. watch your acidity levels. eat more vegetables. thatwill help with the acidity level as well. then pick up your, if you want to get someheart flow, call my office. i can send you some, and some digestive enzymes. so i hopethat helps you.
until next time, have a great, great day.
